There are some hard players out there every season, I don't know if it's just the coaching[or lack there of] or if the heart has completely been taken from Appalachia. Though the JV, is looking very outstanding this year with many great 8th graders out there. But what's the future for Dawg Football. </div></div>
What name did you use to start this same subject this time last fall? </div></div>
    I wasn't on here last fall </div></div>

It is just one of those reoccurring topics that are on here. The Appy folks for the most part will start talking about the disaster of Shelby Valley and East Ridge as shining examples of why consolidation is the great saten and bring up the fact that Phil hates all the Appy boys and would not let them be part of his ball team......Soon after the argument start getting really silly

I have said for several years that Consolidation needs to happen in our area and while I do still think it will the timeframe could be next year or in another 25 years
    </div></div>

Well I never posted my opinion on consolidation, I honestly think if the school board can pull it all off with no money worries then we're fine, and if they make it fair. I could care less about Phil Robbins to be honest or his feelings toward appy.

Appy needs to realize that what they are doing isn't working so they need to adjust from what they are doing.

    Re: Appalachia Dogs

The dogs need to wake up and realize they do not have the same kind of players that they used to have. You have to be able to adjust to the players you have. Until Appy realizes this they will continue to get whipped by teams they shouldn't lose to.

    Re: Appalachia Dogs

dont the appy discussions on this board seem to go in a circle

an appy fan asks will the dawgs ever be a great team again
another appy fan says yes because of their great tradition
and then we have a 5 pg argument about how appy football isint dead

the sad fact is appy is young and in a few years will be a solid team once again

but in my opnion will never again be a really good team and I believe they will never again be really good because of the fact that they do not and never will adapt their offensive strategy to match their talent

not trying to insult the dawgs or their fans you just cant slam the ball between the tackles all day against bigger and better teams you have to use strategy to beat them

    Re: Appalachia Dogs

Consolidation may not be the answer. Consolidation doesn't guarantee you success.

Back in Blount County Walland was a 1A powerhouse. Walland won a state title in 1975.They went to the semifinals numerous times.Walland shut down in 1977 along with Everett,Porter and Townsend High School to make up Heritage High School. Heritage is by far the worst football program in Blount County.

Another example is South Young and Doyle High School making up South Doyle. South Doyle hasn't done much since the merger.
